About The Free Company

Out of Character

The Song «VV-RP» is a "hopepunk" roleplaying-focused Free Company in Final Fantasy XIV on the Balmung World in the Crystal Datacenter. We're composed of players who love the setting and lore of the game, and enjoy telling stories within it. We seek to play characters that are firmly on the side of good, even if the individual characters themselves struggle with the concept.

Presently, we do RP events every Wednesday in the evening (Eastern Time Zone). We also can be found hanging out in our FC house, which is a semi-open RP spot called "Haven Café and Inn". Empyreum, Ward 17, Plot 5

In Character

"Our organization exists to seek out those threats which prey on the good and innocent people of the world, and put an end to them. We're no simple band of adventures nor are we mercenaries. We investigate the situation and exercise our moral judgement when deciding how to act."

"Don't seek membership if you desire gold or glory, or have trouble getting along with your allies."

"Don't seek our aid if coin means more to you than ethics."

"At the time of this notice, we can be found in the Haven Café and Inn in the Empyreum residential area of Ishgard, in the Seventeenth ward, Fifth plot. Ask for any member of the leadership."

How We're Organized

Out of Character

The Song maintains a separation between in-character and out-of-character ranks and roles.

Directors

  • Ruby Darkmist - RP Event Management

  • Kylkos Mkii - RP Event Management

Officers

  • Pale Lady - "Keyholder"

In Character

"Decisions for the organization are made by a Triumvirate. Outside of this, seniority holds priority in the case of arguments, but members are encouraged to work together to make decisions."

"All members are assigned a role based on their skills and comforts. They are as follows."

  • "Speakers - Those whose primary role is to effect positive change through diplomacy. Alternatively they may engage in something called 'marketing'."

  • "Fixers - Those whose primary role is to effect positive change through some manner of force. Often, these are combatants, but Menders are included."

  • "Creators - Those whose primary role is to design new tools, magicks, and so forth in effort to support the other roles. They often serve as problem solvers in general."

  • "Seekers - Those who seek out people, artifacts, information, and so forth. This often includes those skilled at some manner of stealth, but those with a strong investigative nature may find themselves here as well."

  • "Caretakers - Those whose primary roles are the general maintenance of the organization, whether through cooking, cleaning, facilities maintenance, logistics, or things of that nature."

"Neonates are those who are new to the organization. They remain so until they've been properly evaluated."

Bits of Our Lore

My Dear Fayette:

Recent events have left me in a state I can't tolerate. With my premonitions of the coming cataclysm, there's too much building darkness to allow that borne of our personal tragedies to take root. I'm ready to deafen myself to the song of despair, whether sung by the gods or my own heart.

I'm thankful I have you to help. You who keeps me calm and helps me remember my ████████ sense of right and wrong. If I didn't have you, I would have lost patience with and slain these "heroes". They're too busy fighting each other to do any good, or worse yet, flat-out evil. I've heard too many times an excuse for their personal demons running amok.

We all have our demons. A proper being learns to control them, as you well know.

Where I've lost my clan, I wish to start a new one. Not solely composed of our ███████ people, but with proper heroes from all walks of life, united by a goal of protecting the ████ good people of this world from undue harm. I can't imagine this will be a hard sell.

The hard part is making sure that they can get along despite their differences. Despite whatever personal demons they may keep. Infighting binds the hands of justice. Just as I can't tolerate unchecked evil, I can't tolerate infighting any longer. The guilty will suffer the same fate as Rahab.

The same fate...unless I have you there to help impart some mercy upon my judgements. Help me by word, deed, or simple presence.

Night keep you,
〜 Mary Cross
